A UK trained doctor reveals why anxiety keeps returning, even after antidepressants, therapy and everything your GP has recommended

“For fourteen years, I prescribed what the healthcare system expected of me. Then I discovered what we had been overlooking all along.”

I am about to make almost every GP, NHS psychiatrist and pharmaceutical representative in the UK furious.

What I am about to reveal will upset a great many people.

What I am about to tell you could end the career I have spent fourteen years building.

And honestly, I no longer care.

Because last March, a 43 year old primary school teacher named Helen sat in my consulting room at 8.47 am. Her hands were trembling so badly that she could not hold her cup of tea.

“I CAN’T DO THIS ANY MORE,” she said.

She had been taking sertraline for two years. Before that, she had taken citalopram.

Before that, she had spent six months on a waiting list for NHS mental health support. Eventually, she received a single phone call during which she was told to “give mindfulness a try”.

She had spent £2,050 on private cognitive behavioural therapy. As she put it:

“It felt as though they were asking me to think my way out of drowning.”

Over the following eighteen months, she spent another £1,540 on magnesium supplements from the chemist, ashwagandha capsules, CBD oil costing £55 a bottle, and a meditation app subscription.

She had renewed it for three years running but had only used it twice.

It felt as though someone were sitting on her chest.

From the moment she opened her eyes. Every single morning. For four years.

I knew the healthcare system had failed her. So I decided to take a different approach, and I discovered something that changed everything.

And if you are reading this with that same knot in your stomach that has been there for months...

If you have tried antidepressants and they left you feeling emotionally numb...

If you have tried magnesium and decided it simply does not work...

Then the next five minutes could be the most important five minutes you spend this year.

My name is Dr Mark Williams.

I am a GP with fourteen years of clinical experience. For the past six years, I have studied the biochemistry behind chronic anxiety at the British Institute for Integrative Health.

I trained within the UK healthcare system and have prescribed almost every antidepressant available. Today, I am going to tell you this: the pharmaceutical industry has been making money from a lie for 37 years.

But first, I want to tell you about the morning when something inside me broke because of Helen.

The morning everything changed

It was a Tuesday. Helen was my fourth patient of the day.

Her notes read: “Persistent anxiety symptoms, medication review.”

She had been given five minutes. A standard GP appointment.

She sat down and burst into tears before I even had the chance to greet her.

She told me that she had got out of bed at three in the morning and left her husband lying there because her heart was pounding so violently that she thought, once again, she was going to die.

She told me that she had not been truly emotionally present for her two children, aged seven and ten, for eighteen months.

Her resting heart rate, which she had begun checking obsessively, was 118 beats per minute at seven in the morning. Before her first cup of coffee, while she was still lying in bed.

She had tried everything.

Sertraline for two years. It left her so emotionally numb that, in her own words, she felt as though she were “behind a glass wall” at her father’s funeral.

Before that, she had taken citalopram, which caused the same emotional numbness. She had also gained around a stone and had never managed to lose it.

For nine months, she attended private cognitive behavioural therapy at £73 per session. In total, it cost her £2,615. She was taught to “challenge her own thoughts” while her body continued to scream.

After spending six months on the waiting list for NHS psychological support, all she eventually received was an information leaflet.

Mindfulness apps. Yoga. Hot yoga. A forest therapy retreat in a remote part of the New Forest.

She was also offered pregabalin but declined after reading stories about withdrawal symptoms on UK parenting forums.

“I CAN’T DO THIS ANY MORE,” she said.

“I just want to feel like myself again.”

I sat in my consulting room opposite this capable, intelligent and successful woman, who could not stop her hands from trembling. At that moment, something inside me broke.

The discovery that made me lose faith in my own profession

For the next four months, I became completely obsessed.

I read everything published since 1968 on magnesium and the central nervous system.

I studied research from Johns Hopkins, Stanford, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and a Cleveland Clinic research group that had spent more than a decade quietly publishing work on the relationship between magnesium and GABA.

I spent £7,175 of my own money on specialist books, access to scientific journals and a research trip to a biochemistry laboratory near Zurich. My wife thought I was having some sort of midlife crisis.

What I discovered made me so angry that I wanted to punch the wall of my consulting room. In my view, the entire approach our healthcare system uses to address anxiety is built on a lie.

A multibillion pound industry that keeps people like Helen unwell and desperate while they move from one prescription to the next.

Here is what they do not want you to know:

According to this theory, chronic anxiety is not usually caused by a serotonin problem. It may be linked to low magnesium levels.

And what is the striking statistic often used to support this?

It is estimated that a significant proportion of adults in Western countries do not get enough magnesium.

Yet magnesium levels are not routinely checked in most GP surgeries.

Often, they are never checked at all.

Organisations including the Cleveland Clinic and the US National Institutes of Health have also published information about magnesium deficiency.

Your GP has probably never discussed this with you.

The possible underlying cause of chronic anxiety

Imagine your nervous system as a lush green climbing plant growing along a garden wall.

Healthy, flexible and resilient. It bends with the wind, but it does not break.

That climbing plant relies on a particular fuel: magnesium bound to glycine, which supports receptors in your brain known as GABA receptors.

GABA is your brain’s natural braking system.

It signals to your nervous system that it is time to settle down after a stressful meeting, a difficult conversation or a hectic morning filled with the school run, traffic and countless responsibilities.

Without properly functioning GABA receptors, your brain cannot create a sense of calm.

Biochemically, it is unable to do so.

Now imagine what happens during prolonged stress.

Every surge of cortisol, every deadline, every argument and every time you wake up at three in the morning may cause your kidneys to remove more magnesium from your body.

Around 1900, the average diet contained approximately 500 milligrams of magnesium a day.

Today, the average adult is estimated to consume just 175 to 225 milligrams a day. This may be due to intensive farming, which has depleted some of the minerals in agricultural soil, and industrial processing, during which 80 to 90% of what remains may be lost.

Less than half of what your grandparents consumed.

This leaves modern women at a disadvantage on both sides. Less magnesium goes in, while more is lost.

The climbing plant begins to dry out. The GABA receptors work less and less effectively.

The braking system begins to fail.

I now call this “cortisol induced magnesium depletion”. It is a vicious cycle described in scientific papers available through PubMed and MDPI since 2020. Stress depletes magnesium levels.

Low magnesium levels disrupt GABA function. When GABA does not function properly, the nervous system remains stuck in fight or flight mode. This state raises cortisol levels. Cortisol then causes further magnesium loss.

And so the cycle continues. Month after month. Year after year. Sometimes for decades. Until the woman who was once calm, strong, present and loving wakes up one morning at the age of 43 and no longer recognises herself in the mirror.

That is why anxiety can feel as though it comes from your body rather than your thoughts. According to this theory, that is precisely what is happening. It is the sound of the climbing plant giving way because it has completely dried out.

In 2023, Dr Kirill Martemyanov of the Wertheim UF Scripps Institute received international scientific recognition for discovering that glycine, the same amino acid to which magnesium is bound in some advanced formulations, sends a direct “slow down signal” to the brain through the GPR158 receptor. This receptor is now known as mGlyR.

His research was published in Science, one of the world’s leading scientific journals.

But here is the truth that should make every British taxpayer furious.

There is no money to be made from solving this problem.

Magnesium cannot be patented.

You cannot charge £155 per consultation simply to recommend a mineral.

And no pharmaceutical representative takes a doctor out for dinner to promote a supplement that costs less than a basic lunch.

So they keep you trapped in the same endless cycle: antidepressants → side effects → higher dose → a different antidepressant → therapy waiting list → mindfulness app → “Have you considered pregabalin?” → and then it all starts again. Quite clever, really.

At least, if you are a sociopath who sees human suffering as nothing more than a source of quarterly revenue.

The three hour breakthrough that had been right in front of us all along

Three weeks after Helen began following the protocol I had developed, she sent me a message at 6.15 in the morning.

It read: “I’ve had my coffee and I’m sitting in the garden. The knot has gone. I’m crying, Mark, but not because I’m frightened. These are tears of relief.”

She said she noticed the first change after just one dose.

By the second week, her resting heart rate had fallen from 118 to 92 beats per minute.

By the sixth week, she had completely tapered off sertraline under my supervision. She experienced no withdrawal symptoms. According to our theory, this was because we had replenished the underlying deficiency rather than simply inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin.

We used a new method that I call the “Sublingual Synergistic Calming Combination”.

By delivering three substances at the same time, in forms the brain could actually absorb, we were able to overcome the limited absorption that makes many traditional supplements less effective.

This gave her nervous system the building blocks that, according to our findings, it had been missing for fifteen years.

To address chronic anxiety, you need three elements working together

This is where the supplement aisles in chemists and health food shops get it completely wrong.

1

RESTORE GABA receptor function

Without bioavailable magnesium, particularly magnesium bisglycinate, your GABA receptors cannot function properly. Magnesium bisglycinate is said to have an absorption rate of 50 to 80%, compared with just 4 to 15% for magnesium oxide, the form sold by many chemists. You can practise as many breathing exercises as you like, but if the receptor is not supported, nothing happens

2

CALM the nervous system directly

Glycine acts separately on the mGlyR receptor discovered at the Wertheim Scripps Institute. It is believed to send a direct “slow down signal” that helps ease physical tension, such as a clenched jaw, pressure in the chest and shoulders that remain constantly raised. Without glycine, the physical side of anxiety may never settle completely

3

REDUCE stimulating glutamate and promote alpha brain waves

L-theanine, the calming amino acid found in green tea, is reported to cross the blood brain barrier within around 30 minutes. It may reduce the activity of the stimulating neurotransmitter glutamate and shift brain waves into an alpha state of “calm alertness”. Without L-theanine, racing thoughts may continue even when magnesium and glycine are present

If even ONE of these three elements is missing, you are wasting your time.

According to this theory, that is why sertraline does not work well enough for so many women. It targets serotonin, which may not be the true underlying cause.

That is why ashwagandha often disappoints. It may influence cortisol, but it does not directly target the GABA system.

And that is why cheap supermarket magnesium often causes little more than digestive discomfort.

With an absorption rate of just 4%, a 400 mg tablet may provide only 16 mg of magnesium that your body can actually use.

You need all three. At the same time. In the right forms.

A triple action calming formula.

And that is precisely what this formula provides.

When you challenge a £12 billion industry, everyone turns against you

A 41 year old A&E nurse working in the NHS, named Sarah, was the second person on whom I tried this protocol.

Sarah had been experiencing panic attacks during her shifts for nine months.

She kept them hidden from her colleagues. She had already called in sick twice.

She was just three weeks away from leaving a profession she loved and had worked in for sixteen years. Her occupational health doctor had suggested diazepam.

She refused.

“I’ve seen too many patients end up in intensive care because of that stuff,” she told me.

I gave her the protocol on a Thursday evening. Just under three hours later, she messaged me from her sofa at home:

“Mark, I don’t know what this is. But the pressure in my chest that I’ve had since last June has just... gone.”

For the first time in seven months, she slept through the night without medication.

Two weeks later, she returned to her shifts in A&E. She still works there today.

After I presented these cases at a small regional GP conference last autumn, things began to get interesting.

First came the “friendly” emails from several senior colleagues, who advised me to reconsider how I was presenting these findings.

Then I received a letter from a London law firm representing a pharmaceutical company that I will not name. It “politely reminded” me of the medical profession’s position on alternative treatments.

Next, two pharmaceutical representatives I had known for years suddenly stopped returning my calls.

They wanted to silence me because I had documented something that could expose the entire prescription system for what I believe it truly is: a bloated system driven by profit.

A simple under the tongue formula that:

✅ Addressed the underlying cause of chronic anxiety rather than simply masking the symptoms

✅ Began working within three hours rather than taking four to six weeks, as sertraline often does

✅ Cost less than a single session with a private therapist

✅ Gave women the opportunity to support their recovery at home rather than during a ten minute doctor’s appointment

But there was one thing those vultures in the pharmaceutical industry had not anticipated.

While I was gradually being pushed out of the medical conference circuit, I had already met a small team of biochemists. They worked at a research centre in the north of England and had spent four years developing this exact formula.

People who had watched their own mothers, partners and sisters endure the same disappointing journey through the healthcare system.

They had transformed the clinical mechanism I was researching into something every woman in the UK could access from the comfort of her own home.

The brand I now recommend to all my patients

It is called MindRelief™.

I did not develop it myself. It was formulated by a small team of biochemists working in an independently tested facility in the north of England. Before I first heard about them, they had already spent four years quietly developing this formula.

When I finally got hold of their product and asked Sarah to try it, I knew straight away.

MindRelief™ is the only under the tongue formula on the UK market that combines all three elements its developers believe are needed for lasting calm:

Magnesium bisglycinate (200 mg)

Supports the normal function of the nervous system and GABA receptors. It may help reduce the excitability of nerve cells and influence the HPA axis, which can contribute to a balanced stress response. It is absorbed through peptide transporters in the gut as an intact dipeptide and is believed to have a bioavailability of 50 to 80%.

No GP appointment. No NHS mental health waiting list. No bills for private therapy sessions.

Just your nervous system finally receiving what it so desperately needs:

Calm. Clarity. Yourself again.

What I discovered about this company before recommending it to my patients

Let me tell you what I discovered about this company before I allowed my name to be associated with its product in any way.

Because I never put my name behind supplements lightly.

I called the founder and asked him some difficult questions.

I wanted to see the laboratory certificates.

I wanted to know who had developed the product.

And I wanted to understand why fewer than 0.1% of customers had claimed under the money back guarantee.

Here is what I discovered:

Manufactured in a GMP certified facility registered with the relevant health authorities. Its purity and composition are independently tested by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.

MindRelief™ now has more than 44,000 verified customers across the UK and enjoys an almost flawless reputation for resolving complaints and keeping customers satisfied.

For fourteen years, I have watched supplement companies cut corners on quality while charging premium prices for mediocre products. This team does not operate that way.

That is why I am willing to put my name behind their product.

How MindRelief™ helps calm your nervous system within three hours

When you take MindRelief™ in the morning, its developers say the following happens in your body.

Minutes 0 to 30: the activation phase

L-theanine is the first ingredient to cross the blood brain barrier.

After around twenty minutes, you may notice something subtle but noticeable: the pressure in your chest begins to ease.

Your racing thoughts slow from a frantic sprint to a steady walking pace.

Most women describe it as “someone turning down the volume”.

That may not be your imagination.

According to this theory, alpha brain wave activity increases while glutamate activity decreases.

Hours 1 to 2: the restoration phase

Magnesium bisglycinate reaches its highest concentration in the bloodstream.

Your GABA receptors, which may have lacked adequate support for months or even years, may begin functioning more effectively again. Your jaw relaxes. Your shoulders drop.

The knot in your stomach begins to loosen.

Many women who have followed this protocol say this was the first time that day they were able to take a genuinely deep breath.

Hours 2 to 3: the calming phase

The glycine reaches the mGlyR receptor.

The “slow down signal” spreads through your nervous system.

Your resting heart rate may begin to fall.

The physical tension built up through years of chronically tight muscles gradually starts to release.

That inner restlessness, which has been present for so long that you cannot even remember when it began, grows quieter.

After three hours, you rise from your chair feeling as though someone has given you back the nervous system you had in your twenties.

Not emotionally numb as you may feel with sertraline. Not drowsy as you may feel with diazepam. Just calm.

What more than 10,543 British women have experienced over the past 18 months

Over the past 18 months, more than 10,543 women across the UK have used MindRelief™ to support them with persistent feelings of anxiety.

Before I wrote a single word about the product, I asked the team to share their internal data with me.

Here is what they sent:

  • More than 95% reported feeling noticeably calmer within the first three days.

  • Most said they had become less reliant on other supplements and sleep aids.

  • Many women said they had gradually reduced or completely stopped taking their antidepressants in consultation with their doctor.

But the figure that truly convinced me? Only 0.1% requested a refund.

One in a thousand.

I was even told that one refund was requested because a customer’s golden retriever knocked the bottle off the kitchen worktop and ate the entire contents. Fortunately, the dog was fine.

Do not just take my word for it. Here is what real women have said about their experience:

I had lost all hope. Two years on sertraline, citalopram before that, and private cognitive behavioural therapy that had cost me thousands of pounds. The morning after my first dose, I was sitting in the garden with my coffee when I realised the knot in my stomach had gone. I began to cry, but not because I was frightened. They were tears of relief. Three weeks later, I went to my son’s football match. For the first time, I actually watched the match instead of counting down the minutes until I could go home.

The true cost of chronic anxiety in the UK

Let me show you what it really costs to address chronic anxiety properly in the UK.

The private therapy route:

  • Private cognitive behavioural therapy: £60 to £100 per session

  • Typical recommended course: 12 to 20 sessions

  • Total: £715 to £2,050

  • Then there are travel costs, time away from work and homework exercises that often do little to settle your nervous system

The private psychiatrist route:

  • Initial specialist appointment: £215 to £385

  • Follow-up appointments: £100 to £215 each, every six to eight weeks

  • Annual cost: £855 to £1,710

  • Then there is the cost of medication and the uncertainty of potential side effects

The “I’ll sort it out myself” route:

  • Poorly absorbed supermarket magnesium: £100 per year

  • Courses of ashwagandha: £155 per year

  • CBD oil at £55 a bottle: £335 per year

  • Meditation app subscriptions: £50 per year

  • Sleep aids and calming herbal teas: £120 per year

  • Annual total: £760, while you still feel exactly the same

The pharmaceutical industry and the commercial wellness sector love these options. Do you know why?

Because you keep coming back.

One course of therapy that does not work leads to another.

Side effects from sertraline lead to a different antidepressant.

A temporary sense of calm from a natural product creates a customer for life.

It is a gold mine built on the exhaustion and suffering of millions of women.

But this is the part that makes them truly uncomfortable.

The special price the founder has agreed to offer my readers

MindRelief™ should really cost as much as comparable clinical grade calming formulas offered through private clinics. That would work out at roughly the price of two private therapy sessions per bottle. Given the formulation, the quality of the ingredients and the independent laboratory testing, that would honestly be a perfectly reasonable retail price.

But I did not partner with this company simply to offer my readers the usual “market price”.

So I called the founder and said:

“My readers are women like Helen and Sarah. They have already spent thousands of pounds on therapy and medication that did not help. If you want me to put my name behind your product, you need to offer them a substantial discount.”

He did not agree immediately, but I kept pushing. We negotiated for an entire week.

Eventually, he agreed to offer my readers a price that is unavailable anywhere else. It is available only through this page and for a limited time.

Apparently, his finance director was far from pleased. Good.

I am not going to reveal the exact amount here.

The company has asked me not to publish the discounted price publicly. They want to prevent major chemist chains and well known wellness retailers from taking a screenshot and demanding the same commercial terms.

You will see the actual price on the next page when you click below.

What I can tell you is that it costs just a fraction of the price of a single private therapy session.

Less than your weekly food shop.

Less than two cinema tickets in London.

For the only under the tongue formula on the UK market that, according to its developers, targets the underlying cause of the problem.

The offer I arranged for my readers expires at midnight

When the founder agreed to let me offer this discount to my readers, he set one condition: 24 hours.

Not 72 hours. Not a week. Just one day.

Why? Because he does not want this price to remain online any longer than necessary.

As soon as the major wellness retailers see the special price available to my readers, they will demand the same commercial terms. That could place the company’s entire pricing structure under pressure.

So the agreement is simple: the discount remains available for 24 hours.

At midnight, the page will close and the standard retail price will return. I asked him to extend the offer. He said no. I asked again. The answer was still no.

So if you are reading this now, you have until midnight.

This discount expires at midnight tonight.

After that, the page will close and the price will immediately return to its usual retail level.

Stock is also running low. MindRelief™ has already sold out three times in the past six months, and the next delivery is not expected for another seven weeks.

MindRelief™’s 60 day guarantee: “Find your calm or get your money back”

Look, I understand. You have been disappointed before. You have spent money on supplements that promised miracles but delivered nothing. Instagram influencers told you that a particular powder or a few gummies would change your life. They did not.

That is why the company offers the following guarantee. And it is precisely why I trust them.

Try MindRelief™ for 90 days. Three full months. Long enough to test it through all sorts of challenging periods: a week filled with deadlines, the school holidays, an especially busy week or a hectic festive season.

Long enough to experience changing seasons, stress levels, hormones and life circumstances. Long enough that you will not be left wondering, “Perhaps I simply did not give it enough time.”

Take one capsule every morning. Experience your nervous system gradually returning to balance.

Feel the pressure in your chest ease, your racing thoughts settle and your sense of self return.

And if you do not wake up one morning and think, “Hang on... today I actually forgot that I was anxious”, you will receive every penny back.

No complicated forms. No store credit. No awkward questions.

Simply contact the customer service team and write, “It did not work for me.” Your refund will then be processed within 48 hours.

I asked the founder why they offer a 90 day guarantee when most supplement companies provide only 30 days. He replied:

“We want every customer to have enough time to experience the product properly. If we cannot deliver on our promise within 90 days, we do not deserve her money.”

That is the kind of company I feel comfortable recommending to my patients.

Only 0.1% of customers request a refund. According to the company, that speaks volumes about customer satisfaction.

You now have a choice to make

Right now, you have a choice to make.

Option one: carry on as you are.

Keep waking up every morning with that knot in your stomach.

Spend another year dragging yourself through each day while taking sertraline.

Keep counting down the hours until you can finally go to bed.

Continue paying £73 per session for cognitive behavioural therapy, where you are expected to think your way out of a biochemical problem.

Remain a paying customer of an industry that profits from your symptoms.

Option two: try something that addresses the possible underlying cause.

Spend less than you would on a Friday night takeaway.

Choose a formula that, according to the company, has helped more than 10,543 British women regain a sense of balance.

Address a possible deficiency that may have been affecting your wellbeing for years.

Wake up tomorrow with hope instead of fear.

From my perspective, the choice seems fairly clear.

Because let us be honest: persistent feelings of anxiety do not always disappear on their own.

Low magnesium levels can go unnoticed. This may leave processes involving GABA and the stress response out of balance while you gradually feel less and less like yourself.

You can continue spending time and money on options that have not helped you enough and allow the next decade to pass just like the last.

Or...

You can make an informed decision, try MindRelief™ and give yourself a genuine opportunity to discover whether it makes a difference over the coming weeks.

Remember, the guarantee means there is no financial risk.

Either you experience the described benefits or you receive every penny back.

Either way, it is better than losing hope and doing nothing.

Here is exactly what you need to do now

  1. Click the button below labelled ‘CHECK AVAILABILITY’.

  2. Choose your package. A quick tip: order at least two or three bottles. This gives you a sufficient supply and better overall value.

  3. Enter your delivery details. Orders placed before 3.00 pm are dispatched the same day.

  4. Wait for your order to arrive. Delivery usually takes three to five working days across the UK.

  5. Take your first capsule on the morning your order arrives.

  6. Share your experience with the team after one week.

Whatever you do, do not close this page thinking, “I’ll come back later.”

“Later” is no comfort when you are lying awake at three in the morning with your heart pounding.

Later means another lost week, another difficult day and another evening when you cannot be truly present for your children.

Later also means the discount expires at midnight.

With hope,

P.S. Last weekend, Helen sent me a photograph. She was walking through the Yorkshire Dales with her two children. All three of them were smiling as her husband took the picture. She wrote: “Mark, three weeks ago, I could not have done this without a diazepam tablet in my pocket. Today, I did not even think about it.” In 90 days, this could be you. But only if you act now, because the special MindRelief™ discount reserved for my readers ends at midnight tonight.

P.P.S. So far, I have recommended MindRelief™ to more than 240 patients. I receive no commission, own no shares in the company and am not on their payroll. I was simply tired of watching women like Helen and Sarah being failed by the healthcare system. This is the only formula I have found that I believe genuinely delivers what it promises. The science is real. The company is real. The results are real.

P.P.P.S. Once again, the MindRelief™ promotional period ends at midnight tonight. From tomorrow, this page will display the standard retail price again. There will be no opportunity to claim the discount afterwards. I asked personally, and the answer was no. Do not say I did not warn you.

Limited time discount, today only!

OH MY GOODNESS, yes! I was so pleased to see they were still in stock today. I ordered one straight away before they sell out again, like they did last time.
